Zidane’s team welcome back Vinicius Jr. as they look for a fifth home win in a row (4:15pm CEST).The final month of the season has arrived for Real Madrid.
The Whites now have three games to play in May before the end of LaLiga. The first of those is this afternoon against Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabéu (4:15pm CEST). The will be the penultimate game at home for Zidane’s side, who want to clinch a fifth home win in a row in front of their fans. Everyone involved with the club will be thinking of Iker Casillas and wishing him our eternal captain a speedy recovery.
“We want to finish well, get three wins, we are going to try to make our fans proud”, stated Zidane. Sergio Ramos, Benzema and Odriozola were the only players missing from training this week. 19 players have been called up to face Villarreal. The big news is the return of Vinicius Jr. who was injured back in March. He will be looking to add to his brave performances so far this season.
Real Madrid have hosted Villarreal 18 times in LaLiga. The Whites have won 12 times, drawn 5 and lost just once. Bale has been key in recent clashes. The Welshman made his Real Madrid debut against Villarreal, and has so far scored four goals.
Fight for survival
Javi Calleja’s team will be looking to win in order to stay up. They have had good results in recent weeks (three wins against Girona, Leganés and Real Sociedad; and a draw against Huesca). Away from home Villarreal have won five, drawn five and lost seven.
