One of the most iconic stadiums in the world will not host games from his club when football returns. The president of Real Madrid confirmed that the Santiago Bernabéu will not receive any of the club’s remaining games in LaLiga. With the return of the Spanish Championship scheduled for June 11, the meringues still serve as hosts in six matches.
The club will host their opponents at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium, in Cuidad Real Madrid in Valdebebas. Florentino Pérez’s idea is to advance the works already started at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“We decided to play at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium, in our Ciudad Real Madrid, every game we play as a home team,” Pérez wrote to Real fans. “This decision will allow us to move forward with the construction of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium”.
